Wilson Buterbaugh’s adoption surrender experience during the "Baby
Scoop Era" was audio taped for "Everlasting" and is stored at Harvard
University's Schlesinger Library Archives. In 1966, Karen was
sent to the Florence Crittenton maternity "home" in Washington D.C.
where her daughter was born that July. Her daughter was removed from
her on August 1. Karen found her daughter thirty years later.
Karen is founder of Mothers for Open Records Everywhere and OriginsUSA.
She co-authored the book "Adoption Healing," for mothers (2003) and"In
the Best Interests Of Whom?"( 2005). She authored magazine articles
"Setting the Record Straight" (2001) and "Not By Choice" (2002).>
