Neuropsychologist Alterations in Mood During Pregnancy and Postpartum Periods: Biological and Cognitive Markers and Their Impact on Maternal Decisions in Adoption. The presentation will address biological (e.g., changes in levels of essential fatty acids) and cognitive (e.g., alterations in information processing, executive skills, etc.) changes during pregnancy and the postpartum period associated with alterations in mood, including baby blues, postpartum depression, and postpartum psychosis. The impact of these changes on decision-making processes will be underscored with special emphasis and focus on maternal decisions related to adoptions. Case Presentations will be used to exemplify the impact of these factors on three young women and their decision making. processes about adoption. |
